Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based, communication / counseling skill designed to guide and support behavior change. We have developed an integrated online course to provide foundational training on motivational interviewing (MI).
The MI training course provides foundational training on the various skills, techniques and methods needed to deliver MI as well as strategies and considerations for using it in practice. The course is appropriate for a range of professionals (clinicians and non-clinicians). Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences is the accredited provider and has approved this activity for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, American Osteopathic Association credit, nursing contact hours, and continuing education contact hours. If you have questions regarding continuing education credit, please email [email protected]. Download a copy of the Promotional Flyer to review or share with colleagues. Coordination and History
Programming and training are managed through the ISU Translational Research Network (U-TuRN) which works to disseminate evidence-based programming across Iowa. The course was developed based on a foundational (in-person) course offered on campus (KIN 4940) that has been used to train ISU students in the process to enable engagement and involvement in research and outreach programming.
How Can it be Applied?
The course is recommended for groups interested in delivering the Hybrid WWE program as it can help support the content on habit formation covered in the online course.
We will be evaluating our training model over time so Individuals and organizations that engage will be asked to complete baseline evaluations and periodic surveys to evaluate programming. If you are interested in learning more, please email us at [email protected]
